Summary

AutoBudget helps households understand bills, paydays, debts, goals, and related budgeting activity. We collect only the information needed to provide the service, protect accounts, support customers, and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information.

If bank linking is enabled for your account, AutoBudget uses Plaid to connect to your financial institution. AutoBudget does not receive or store your online banking username or password.

Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, authentication identifiers, and profile details you provide.
• Budgeting information: bills, debts, paychecks, goals, alerts, calendar entries, notes, and settings you enter or import.
• Connected-account information: when you choose to link an account through Plaid, we may receive account names, account types, balances, transaction data, institution details, and Plaid tokens or identifiers needed to maintain the connection.
• Usage and device information: log data, diagnostics, pages viewed, feature usage, browser/device details, and security events.
• Support information: messages, screenshots, or files you send when requesting help.

How we use information

• Provide, operate, secure, and troubleshoot AutoBudget.
• Display budgets, bills, pay periods, account-linked insights, and alerts.
• Authenticate users, prevent abuse, investigate fraud, and enforce our Terms.
• Respond to support requests and service communications.
• Improve product reliability, performance, accessibility, and user experience.
• Comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, and security obligations.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate AutoBudget, with service providers under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations, or when required by law. These providers may include cloud hosting, authentication, infrastructure, error monitoring, customer support, and financial-data connectivity providers such as Plaid.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share financial account data for third-party advertising.

Plaid and financial account linking

When you link a financial account, Plaid collects your credentials directly and provides AutoBudget with permissioned account data and tokens. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's own end-user privacy policy and terms. You can disconnect linked accounts in AutoBudget or by contacting us.

AutoBudget stores access tokens and financial data using restricted access controls and uses them only to provide user-facing budgeting features, maintenance, security, and compliance functions.

Security and retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user data, including encrypted transport, restricted production access, secret management, logging controls, and vulnerability review. See our Security & Data Protection page for more detail.

We retain information for as long as needed to provide AutoBudget, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support backups and audit records. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.

Your choices

• Access, correct, export, or delete information by contacting us.
• Disconnect bank-linked accounts when you no longer want AutoBudget to receive new financial data.
• Adjust browser controls for cookies and local storage where available.
• Opt out of non-essential communications where an unsubscribe option is provided.

Children's privacy

AutoBudget is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as AutoBudget changes. The effective date above shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be communicated through reasonable in-product, website, or email notice where required.
